Here is Opinion of Residents about Providing Bike Lanes

Jakarta Provincial Government is providing bike lanes for cyclists and residents for exercise in a number of streets spread over five regions on Sunday (6/28). Fortunately it gets positive response by Jakartans considering many come for cycling or just jogging.

So it makes me feel comfortable and safe

As stated by Tedi Irawan (40), a resident of Kemanggisan, West Jakarta said bike lane was very good for health. As he felt when cycling on Jalan Gajah Mada - Jalan Hayam Wuruk, the lane between cyclists and residents who walk or run was made separately thus it added a sense of security and comfort when cycling.

"So do not worry about going into contact with pedestrians and joggers. So it makes me feel comfortable and safe," he expressed.

While Teguh (35), a citizen of Slipi, West Jakarta gave his support for the government's policy on bike lane for cyclists in Jakarta. Moreover it was very popular in various circles and ages lately.

"This is awesome, we can cycle safer and more comfortable," he exclaimed.

West Jakarta Economic and Development Assistant Fredy Setiawan expressed bike lanes in West Jakarta were available on Jalan Gajah Mada - Jalan Hayam Wuruk and Kembangan West Prime Centre (SPB) or known as the CNI region.

"Alhamdulillah today it runs smoothly. I also see that the public is very enthusiastic, especially those who ride bikes," he told.

Nevertheless his side continues to urge people comply with heath protocols by using masks, washing hands with soap and maintaining physical distancing. To monitor it, Satpol PP and Transportation Sub-agency officers deployed to the field.

"I had seen some do not use masks and we given them social work sanction to clean up public facilities," he stated.
